DS Holds 2020 Annual Meeting on Zoom

October 6, 2020

We will all remember 2020 as the year of Zoom, and on Friday 25 September 2020, Digital Scriptorium held it’s Annual Meeting remotely on the Zoom digital platform for video and audio conferencing. The restrictions for travel and in-person gatherings caused by COVID-19 made it impossible to hold our traditional all-day meeting as we did last year at the Newberry Library in Chicago. Instead 66 people logged on to participate in a two-hour remote meeting, that in spite of some technical obstacles, went extremely well and finished on time.

The meeting included the presentation of all business reports and the induction of two new institutions, one very large: Cornell University, and one very small: the New York Academy of Medicine. Both institutions made presentations about their collections, and DS is fortunate to welcome them as new particpants in the DS consortium as well as contributors to the online catalog.

A significant part of the meeting was devoted to a presentation by Lynn Ransom (DS Secretary and DS 2.0 PI) and Emma Thomson (DS 2.0 Project Manager) about DS 2.0, the recently awarded IMLS National Leadership in Libraries grant, the newly produced Institutional Survey, and the four-session Planning Meeting, to be held on October 6, 8, 13, and 15 at 1:00-3:00 pm. EDT.  For more details, please see the Minutes posted on the Governance page of this website.

Thanks to everyone who attended the Annual Meeting and for your continue support of Digital Scriptorium!
